Splatter Creature Craft for Kids

November 27, 2019

As  you know all my books have easy art activities that go with them. And Splatter is one of my favorite books and activity set! I do this because it makes reading SOOO much fun! And because I love ART! So I’ve tried a couple different ways to do blow (eye dropper or watercolor puddle) and I would say the water color puddle works the best. SO I made a video!! My kids got a little TOO carried away with the dropper and they had more control making “watercolor puddles” and then blowing with a straw. Also a bent straw did help in giving them more direction!

To make these splatter creatures extra awesome you can buy the “Scribble Stickers” too!! on Amazon!

9 Must Read Books About Kindness

November 27, 2019

Kindness has been a huge topic not only in school but also at home too! So I thought I would list my favorite books about Kindness!

  1. We’re ALL WondersThe unforgettable bestseller Wonder, now a major motion picture, has inspired a nationwide movement to Choose Kind. Now parents and educators can introduce the importance of choosing kind to younger readers with this gorgeous picture book, featuring Auggie and Daisy on an original adventure, written and illustrated by R. J. Palacio.
Over 8 million people have fallen in love with Wonder and have joined the movement to Choose Kind. Now younger readers can meet Auggie Pullman, an ordinary boy with an extraordinary face, and his beloved dog, Daisy.

2. Kindness Snippet Jar

A fun and creative way to teach children KINDNESS! Kindness snippet jar is a story about a little snippet who wants desperately to live in a kindness jar because he learns that it brings kindness to the world, but can’t figure out the right words to help spread kindness. He asks several other snippets how they find their words and he soon discovers he has to do something kind for his words to appear! It takes him a while to figure out what to do, but when he finally gets his words it turns out pretty amazing!

What makes this book so unique is that it inspires children to make their own kindness snippet jar! There are directions in the back of the book to make your very own jar and some inspiration for the kindness snippets too!

3. Invisible Boy

A simple act of kindness can transform an invisible boy into a friend…

Meet Brian, the invisible boy. Nobody ever seems to notice him or think to include him in their group, game, or birthday party . . . until, that is, a new kid comes to class.

When Justin, the new boy, arrives, Brian is the first to make him feel welcome. And when Brian and Justin team up to work on a class project together, Brian finds a way to shine.

4.Strictly No Elephants

“A sunny, smart, tongue-in-cheek tale.” —The New York Times Book Review
“Sweet and affirming.” —Kirkus Reviews

When the local Pet Club won’t admit a boy’s tiny pet elephant, he finds a solution—one that involves all kinds of unusual animals in this sweet and adorable picture book.

Today is Pet Club day. There will be cats and dogs and fish, but strictly no elephants are allowed. The Pet Club doesn’t understand that pets come in all shapes and sizes, just like friends. Now it is time for a boy and his tiny pet elephant to show them what it means to be a true friend.

Imaginative and lyrical, this sweet story captures the magic of friendship and the joy of having a pet.

5. Be Kind

“These days, it seems more important than ever for books to show young people how to act with thoughtfulness, civility, and kindness.” ―The New York Times Book Review

When Tanisha spills grape juice all over her new dress, her classmate wants to make her feel better, wondering: What does it mean to be kind?

From asking the new girl to play to standing up for someone being bullied, this moving story explores what kindness is, and how any act, big or small, can make a difference―or at least help a friend.

With a gentle text from the award-winning author of Sophie’s Squash, Pat Zietlow Miller, and irresistible art from Jen Hill, Be Kind is an unforgettable story about how two simple words can change the world.

6. A Little SPOT of Kindness

A fun story about the power to choose kindness!

From saying please to sharing toys, your child will learn how to spread kindness in everyday situations at school and at home!

Join a little SPOT on a journey as he SPOTS kindness and shows children a fun way to remember to be kind too!

7. Have you filled your bucket today?

“Children are not the only ones that need to learn how to be truly happy. It’s all in the bucket, that invisible bucket that follows you everywhere. . . teaches young readers valuable lessons about giving, sharing, and caring. This guide to daily happiness, though, is not just for kids. We all need reminders of the benefits of positive thinking and positive behavior. It’s an important lesson to teach and remind us all . . . that showing kindness and appreciation of others goes a long way to making this world a happier place for everyone, including ourselves. A classic tale, beautifully told and beautifully shared.” -Emily-Jane Hills Orford, Readers’ Favorite Book Reviews

8. Invisible Scribble

A heartwarming story about believing in yourself and the power of kindness!

Scribble is back in an all new adventure! In this follow up to the #1 Amazon Best Seller, I’m NOT just a Scribble… your child will see how an invisible scribble can turn into a masterpiece!

Invisible Scribble is a story about a scribble that realizes he can’t make a colorful swirl like the other scribbles. In fact, when he swirls and squiggles it looks like he didn’t make any art at all! Luckily, all the scribbles come together to help invisible see that he was always art, he just needed to believe in himself!

Join Invisible Scribble on a journey as he meets Splatter and Snippets and SEES how through simple acts of kindness it can transform even an invisible scribble into something pretty amazing!

9. The Big Umbrella

By the door there is an umbrella. It is big. It is so big that when it starts to rain there is room for everyone underneath. It doesn’t matter if you are tall. Or plaid. Or hairy. It doesn’t matter how many legs you have.

Don’t worry that there won’t be enough room under the umbrella. Because there will always be room.

Lush illustrations and simple, lyrical text subtly address themes of inclusion and tolerance in this sweet story that accomplished illustrator Amy June Bates cowrote with her daughter, Juniper, while walking to school together in the rain.
